With one month left in our FIRST Villagers Photo contest, today seems like an opportune time to review our super-cool prizing – and share a few extra details.
So here we go.
The first place winner – the individual with the most number of ‘likes’ on their FIRST Villagers photo – wins the big trip to Montréal, which includes three nights at the stunning Place d’Armes Hôtel & Suites in Old Montréal and $1,500 spending money. Second prize is a very sleek Canon EOS 7D camera.
They are pretty stellar prizes – all the more so because they complement what The New Calgary and East Village is set to become: a neighbourhood where walkability and livability are a given; connections to nature and other city neighbourhoods are effortless; shopping, dining and entertainment are varied and memorable.
Old Montréal is an epicenter of activity; with a wide range of restaurants and nightlife venues, people seeking quality food, music and atmosphere flock to the neighbourhood. Yet the area retains its character; historically through its architecture and cobble stone streets, and generally, with its eclectic mix of businesses and a nearby community of active residents and visitors from every community in Montéal and the around world. Most importantly, it’s a city with a vibrant arts and culture scene – best explored on foot.

It’s the ideal place to send our photo contest winner. Like the New Calgary will be, Old Montréal is overflowing with things to do and see.
With the Canon 7D, our second-prize winner can capture the transformation of the East Village area – not to mention all the cool new infrastructure that has already been put in place, such as RiverWalk and the 4th Street Underpass. Hopefully, they’ll bring it on their own travels as well.
Truth be told, I’m going to be pretty jealous of the first and second place winners of our FIRST Villagers Photo Contest. But I wish you all the best of luck!
